"Scuttling the u-529" (2025)

Unreal Engine 5.5

"Scuttling the U-529" is another homage to one of my all-time favorite video games: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (2002).

With the power and fidelity of Unreal Engine 5.5, I was able to recreate and remaster one of the most iconic missions: the undercover mission inside the German submarine pen in Norway. This time I opted for an ingame walkthrough video,
as if it's an actual playable experience. It was well received with many game pages writing about it.

My work on "Scuttling the U-529" included:

  • Rebuilding the base geometry, using Unreal Engine 5's Modeling Tools
  • Asset integration and material creation
  • Full prop- and set dressing
  • Full lighting pass using Lumen
  • Character (Metahuman) integration, rigging and animating it using Control Rig
  • Created proprietary tools to streamline development
  • Cinematic implementation using Unreal Engine's Level Sequencer
    • Character (NPC) behaviors

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (2002) is a videogame with a special place my heart. Spending most of my teenage years with this game, I loved every minute of it.

After the success of my first Medal of Honor Reimagined video,
I was curious what it would take to remake one of MoHAA's iconic missions: the undercover mission inside the German submarine pens. I remember this tense mission due to its undercover nature, and swigching up from the intense action the game otherwise portrays.

"This is amazing.. This was one of the very first missions I created in my entire career. So happy and honored to have a fan remake of this Quality done with this. Great job! and thank you so much!"
